Get to Know Our Thriving Hawaiian Community

Every other month, you can look forward to interesting interviews of kupuna, Hawaiian business owners, practitioners, and children all doing Hawaiian things right here in Southern California.  Ka Hōkū Newsletter will take you into their homes and hearts as they tell their stories of living Hawaiian style in California.

Ka Hōkū Newsletter will also bring you the stories of clubs and organizations with the common goal of improving the conditions of Hawaiians.  Their achievements will be told.  Their happenings will be published.

Learn Your Culture

Ka Hōkū Newsletter will also bring a little culture into your life.  Read about the things we keep around our homes and why we cherish them.  Learn the history of other Hawaiians who made their homes away from Hawaiʻi.  Relate with the unique things Hawaiians do and learn why we do them.  And learn some new Hawaiian words, phrases, songs, and ‘Ōlelo No’eau.  You don’t need to live in Hawaiʻi to be surrounded by your culture.  Ka Hōkū Newsletter’s mission is to bring your culture to you.

Participate in What is Available to You

Ka Hōkū Newsletter will also keep you informed of the many opportunities that are available to you as a Hawaiian living in Southern California.  The comprehensive calendar section includes concerts, workshops, hoʻolauleʻa, hōʻike, cultural retreats, political events and  more.  Scholarships will be brought to your attention with the eligibility requirements and further contact information.  Opportunities for you to participate in your culture will also be imparted.  As an indigenous citizen of the USA, you are entitled to certain rights.  Ka Hōkū Newsletter will keep you informed of what these rights are.
